Most budget apps want your bank login, your contacts, your location — every drop of behavioural data they can resell. Tallé wants none of it. Tallé has no server to send your budget to, so your entries, budgets and income stay on your phone unless you choose to export, back up or share them.
Tallé doesn't connect to your bank or scan your receipts, and that's by design. When you type in each purchase yourself, you take a moment to notice it. Research backs this up: a University of Toronto study found that having to write down the amount you pay makes spending more memorable, and people spend less afterwards. A review of 138 studies found that recording your progress helps you reach your goals, especially when you write it down. Automatic apps make your balance easy to see. Tallé makes your spending something you're aware of.

From the morning gas fill-up to the monthly mortgage. Each category has fields for what's specific to it — litres or gallons for fuel, what the policy covers for insurance, kilometres or miles for vehicle.
Enter what you save weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, pick an annual return, and watch the gap between what you put in and what it could become over 5 to 40 years. It's a motivation tool, not a promise — real returns vary year to year — but it's a quick way to see what compounding actually does.

Really. Your budget records never leave your phone unless you choose to export, back up or share them. Tallé has no server of its own, no analytics and no cloud sync. If you airplane-mode your phone, every feature you have keeps working. Only buying, restoring or checking the full version needs a connection.
Tallé's data is also left out of your phone's own backups: iCloud and Finder backups on iPhone and iPad, and Google backup and device-to-device transfer on Android. (On iPhone, a small settings store with no budget data, such as whether App lock is on, is still included.)
One exception: buying, restoring and checking the full version go through Google Play or the App Store, using Google's and Apple's own purchase libraries, which may send technical information to them. Your budget data — transactions, categories, income, everything you enter — isn't part of it, and we don't run servers that could receive it. The Privacy Policy lists what does reach us, such as emails you send.
With a Tallé backup. Your phone's own backup or transfer won't bring Tallé's data across, because Tallé asks to be left out of iCloud, Finder, Google backup and device-to-device transfer. Tallé's own backup file is the reliable way to move it.
Save a backup on your old phone, move the file to the new one, and restore it in Tallé. The backup is encrypted with AES-256 when you add a password. Restoring brings your data, not your trial: the new phone keeps its own trial or full version.

Yes. Tallé's free 30-day trial lets you make sure it suits you before you buy, but if you change your mind afterwards:
Google Play: within 48 hours of buying, you can request a refund directly from Google Play in your order history. After that, email support@talle.ca within 30 days of purchase with your Google Play order number (it starts with GPA.) and we'll refund you.
Bought on iPhone or iPad? Apple handles all App Store refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com; we can't issue App Store refunds ourselves.
Being offline or a store error never removes the full version. After a refund, it's removed once the store can't find your purchase on repeated checks over at least 7 days, or right away if Apple reports the refund. If you still own it, tap Restore purchase. Your data stays on your phone, and you can always export it.
Switched Google or Apple accounts? Tap Restore purchase while signed in to the account you bought Tallé with.

On both platforms the app works the same way: on-device, no account, no cloud.
Not yet. Tallé currently supports export (to CSV, JSON or Excel, and you can add a QuickBooks import file to any export) and backup/restore of your own Tallé data (encrypted with AES-256 when you add a password), but there's no way to bring in data from another app. Tell us which app you'd like to import from in the feedback survey.
Two reasons. First, privacy: there's no bank login and no server for your budget, so your data stays on your phone. Second, awareness: entering each purchase yourself makes you notice it. Research on payments suggests that writing down what you spend helps you remember it and spend more deliberately. It takes a few seconds per entry, and that small pause is part of the point.
Not yet. Tallé comes with 20 built-in categories that cover most budgets, and you can hide any you don't use in Settings › Preferences › Categories. Hidden categories are never deleted, and they still show up in any month where they have a budget or entries.
Your currency (CAD, USD or EUR), metric or imperial units, and dark mode. Tallé uses one currency for your whole ledger, and a change is saved straight away. You can also hide the categories you don't use and turn on App lock.
