1.About these terms

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") apply to the Tallé app on Android and on iPhone and iPad (the "app") and to the talle.ca website, including the feedback survey and the help videos. Tallé is made and run by Christopher Witkowski, Nova Scotia, Canada ("we" and "us"). By using the app or the website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

2.What Tallé is

Tallé is an on-device personal budgeting tool. It helps you record and organize your own entries, budgets, income and spending categories. Your budget records are stored on your phone. Tallé has no accounts and no cloud sync, and we don't run a server that receives your records.

3.Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Tallé for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell, redistribute, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or otherwise exploit the app or any part of it except as permitted by applicable law or the terms of the app store you got it from.

4.Free trial and purchase

Tallé is free to download and includes a 30-day free trial with every feature. After the trial, you can keep using all of Tallé by buying the full version with a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play on Android or the App Store on iPhone and iPad. There's no subscription. Google or Apple takes the payment under their own terms. If you don't buy the full version, you can still open Tallé, export your data and save a backup at any time.

5.Refunds

• Android (Google Play): within 48 hours of buying, you can request a refund yourself from your Google Play order history. After that, email support@talle.ca within 30 days of purchase with your Google Play order number (it starts with GPA.) and we'll refund you.
• iPhone and iPad (App Store): Apple handles all App Store refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com; we can't issue App Store refunds ourselves.

Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or other right you have under consumer protection law where you live.

6.Keeping your paid access

Once you've bought the full version, Tallé checks with Google Play or the App Store that you still own it.

• Being offline, or a store error, never removes the full version.
• It's removed only after at least 3 store checks in a row, spanning at least 7 days, that can't find your purchase, or right away if Apple reports that the purchase was refunded.
• If you still own it, Restore purchase brings it back. If you changed Google or Apple accounts, restore while signed in to the account you bought Tallé with.

Losing the full version never deletes your records. You can always open Tallé, export your data and save a backup.

7.Your data and backups

Your records exist only on your phone. We don't hold a copy, so we can't recover them for you. If you lose your phone, reset it, or delete Tallé, your records are gone unless you've saved a Tallé backup somewhere else. Your phone's own backups and transfers usually leave Tallé's data out.

You're responsible for:

• keeping your own Tallé backups somewhere safe. Exports (CSV, JSON or Excel) are copies for other apps; Tallé can't restore from them;
• remembering any backup password. A password-protected backup can't be restored without it, by you or by us;
• the accuracy of what you enter, and keeping exports and backups you share or save secure;
• using Tallé lawfully and in line with these Terms.

Tallé doesn't check or correct what you enter, and any conclusions you draw from it are your own.

8.Not financial advice

Tallé is a budgeting and record-keeping tool. It does not give financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and nothing in the app or on the website should be read as such. Figures, summaries and projections, including the Savings Projection, are illustrations for your own information; real results vary. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. Your financial choices are your own.

9.The website

• Feedback survey: please don't include your name, contact details or financial details in your answers. By sending answers, you let us use them to improve Tallé. We don't publish what you wrote word for word.
• Help videos are hosted on YouTube and load only when you press play. Watching them is also covered by YouTube's own terms.
• Please don't misuse the website, for example by sending automated or abusive survey submissions or trying to get around its spam protection.

10.Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent the law allows, the app and the website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of defects, or that it will meet your needs.

11.Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither Tallé nor its maker is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of profits or financial losses, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app or the website, even if advised that such damages were possible. Because your records are kept only on your phone, we aren't responsible for their loss; please keep backups (section 7). Apart from the refunds in section 5, your remedy if you're unhappy with Tallé is to stop using it.

12.Changes to these terms

If we change these Terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll say so in the app or on the website before it takes effect.

13.Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes are to be resolved in the courts of Nova Scotia, except where the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts or its consumer protections.
